At Eze-Flow Plumbing we recommend that North Shore and Northern Beaches clients install stainless steel hot water tanks. This is because stainless steel is corrosion resistant. This is particularly important when you live near the coastline. They are also lighter than traditional steel tanks.
Steel hot water tanks usually come with a lifespan of between 10 and 12 years. However, due to the salty air that coastal properties are subject to, steel hot water tanks can rust and blow out in 7 years – just like the tank shown here!
Stainless steel tanks for both electric and gas hot water also have better fatigue resistance from the stresses of constant temperature and pressure variations. As a result they come with a 15 year guarantee.

Like all industries we are still experiencing material shortages and unfortunately hot water units from brands like Rinnai are getting harder to source as they are mostly manufactured in China. Unfortunately, this means longer delays and wait times with replacing faulty or burst hot water systems. It’s couldn’t come at a more worse time as winter ❄️ definitely has set in. Lucky for these North Shore Clients we have temporary hot water units on standby to ensure they did not go without hot water last week, whilst we worked with our suppliers to source the hot water unit for their property. This client decided to change to an electric hot water unit this time to utilise their solar powered electricity. We installled a 250L Everhot. What is an 'IO'❓ What does it mean if the plumber is going to "pull your toilet"❓ 👨🏻🔧 Lets break down the plumber lingo and give you the facts. If you have ever experienced a blocked toilet 🚽and the sewer has no access externally you may hear the plumber say they will need to 'pull the toilet' to gain access to your sewer line. This can be a costly exercise as not all toilets survive the removal and will need replacing. Once the sewer is cleared the toilet can be reinstalled. We strongly recommend having an Inspection Opening (IO) installed to your sewer line, because it means the next time you have an issue with your sewer it can be easily accessed externally from the IO. There is no hassle of having to 'pull the toilet'. The IO is installed directly above your main sewer line outside. We dig down to the sewer line, cut in a vertical access pipe and terminate flush with the surface. All you will be able to see is a white cap in the ground. This yacht needed a gas compliance certificate however we found that the gas storage locker was not compliant because: 1) Regulator was not the required dual stage 2) Gas storage locker was not completely sealed 3) No "gas storage" signage applied to the locker These defects were easily fixed; ✅we replaced the regulator, ✅sealed the storage lockers pin holes with silicone and ✅applied a LPG gas storage to the outside of the locker. 🔎 We were called out earlier this week to investigate why this clients backyard flooded in heavy rain ☔️. Upon investigation we discovered the stormwater outlet to the kerb was 95% blocked. We chipped away the moss to reveal an extensive tree root system blocking the pipe. This client had only recently purchased the property and unfortunately inherited a poorly maintained stormwater system from the previous owners.
